What is CIALIS?

CIALIS is a PDE5 inhibitor or phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor, which is a drug that blocks the degradative action of phosphodiesterase type 5 on cyclic GMP in the smooth muscle cells lining the blood vessels supplying the corpus cavernosum of the penis. Also known as tadalafil, CIALIS is used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction. In appearance, the drug looks like a crystalline solid and is available in the form of 2.5, 5, 10, or 20 mg of yellow and almond-shaped tablets.

CIALIS is almost insoluble in water and very slightly soluble in ethanol. Because of its effect for 36 hours, the drug earned a nickname, "The Weekend Pill."

Health Consequences of CIALIS:

According to the latest data report, tadalafil is one of the most prescribed drugs in the world. It has been estimated that more than 8 million men throughout the world use it. But, most of the users report about certain side effects. The most common side effects that you can get from the usage of CIALIS are headache, indigestion, back pain, muscle aches, flushing, and stuffy and runny nose. The side effects of the drug also reflect the ability of PDE5 inhibition to cause blood vessels to widen.

Required Dosage:

As CIALIS belongs to the class of PDE5 inhibitors, which also includes sildenafil (Viagra) and vardenafil (Levitra), it is developed by the biotechnology firm ICOS and is marketed worldwide by Eli Lilly.

The most commonly taken starting dose of the drug is 10 mg, taken prior to anticipated sexual activity. However, you can increase the dosage of CIALIS upto 20 mg or can decrease it to 5 mg, according to your efficacy and tolerability. But, the maximum recommended dosing frequency is once per day only for most of the patients.

If you want to use this specific PDE5 inhibitor only once in a day then your dosage should be 2.5 mg. But the most important fact about this condition is that you should take the medicine at approximately same time every day, without regard to timing of sexual activity. You can further increase the dosage to 5 mg depending upon your efficency and acceptability.
